NEW YORK CITY — Bi-coastal sound studio One Thousand Birds (https://otbirds.com) has hired Hayley Livingston as sound designer/mixer in New York. She spent the past year working as a freelance artist, creating sound for commercials, feature-length films, shorts and podcasts. Her appointment marks the first time a woman has held this full-time role at One Thousand Birds.

LOS ANGELES — Zoe Schack has been promoted to editor at Final Cut (www.finalcut-edit.com), which has offices in London, New York and Los Angeles, where she is based. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, Schack began working at Final Cut as an assistant editor. She held this position for three years before being promoted to editor.

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — Squeak E. Clean Studios (www.squeakeclean.com), which has a network of facilities in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Sydney and Melbourne, has added sound designer Ryan Dickinson to the new Melbourne studio. Dickinson has over 15 years of international audio production experience, working for top advertising agencies, including Ogilvy, Saatchi and Colenso BBDO. His credits include work for Samsung, Adidas, Coca-Cola, Burger King, EA Games and Gameloft.

FORT WORTH, TX — The winners of Filmsupply Edit Fest were recently announced, marking the end of the 30-day editing competition. The contest encouraged editors to submit work created using footage from Filmsupply.com. I caught up with Alex Tsilfidis, founder and CEO of Accusonus, at the AES show in New York City recently. NEW YORK CITY — Boutique post production shop Wax (wax.tv), with locations in New York and Boston, has promoted longtime staff member Drew Balke to editor. He joined the shop as it was getting off the ground and spent the past five years working on a range of commercial productions. The move not only reflects the shop’s goal of promoting from within and fostering talent across disciplines, but also its ongoing mission of creating a home for emerging visual storytellers.

LOS ANGELES — Thirty-two features have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 92nd Academy Awards, though several of the films have not yet had their required Los Angeles seven-day qualifying run. Submitted features must fulfill the theatrical release requirements and comply with all of the category’s other qualifying rules before they can advance in the nominations voting process.

NEW YORK CITY — Endcrawl (https://endcrawl.com) offers a software tool that’s dedicated to managing and rendering film and television credits. The company was co-founded by John 'Pliny' Eremic, who once ran the post facility Offhollywood, which was later sold to Light Iron.
