    LOS ANGELES — Technicolor’s (www.technicolor.com) MPC scored two Oscar nominations in the Visual Effects category for the studio’s work on The Lion King and

      MPC launches episodic VFX division

      LONDON – Technicolor’s MPC (mpcfilm.com) has launched a new episodic visual effects division. The effort is a response to increased demand for content brought on by streaming platforms. MPC, which is known for its photoreal VFX and animation work, will now offer episodic directors and producers access to the studio’s technology and talent - the same talent behind a number of recent blockbusters, including The Lion King, 1917, Detective Pikachu and Godzilla: King of The Monsters.

      LOS ANGELES — The Visual Effects Society (www.visualeffectssociety.com) held its 18th Annual VES Awards last night, recognizing outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation in film, animation, television, commercials, video games and special venues. Comedian Patton Oswalt served as host for the ninth time, entertaining the more than one thousand guests gathered at the Beverly Hilton, who were there to celebrate VFX talent in 25 awards categories.

      Scare Me is a new film by writer, director and actor Josh Ruben. The project premiered at Sundance on Friday, January 24th and represents Ruben’s feature directorial debut. The film takes place in the Catskill Mountains during a power outage, where two strangers - Fanny and Fred - tell a series of scary stories. The more they commit to their tales, the more the stories come to life in the dark of the cabin.
