Goddby Jump Cut

December 8, 2009, 05:14 AM

I will first credit the one who inspired me to even think it possible, what I’m about to describe. This man has actually influenced me a lot over the years, and my last blog post about Avid’s ScriptSync wouldn’t have happened had I not seen this guy give a presentation about ScriptSync some years back. Anyway, I first met Steve Audette in 1998 at one of Avid’s Master Editor Workshops.

Avid Screencast - Kill Bill Effect

December 3, 2009, 05:05 AM

In this episode, we’ll create a high-contrast, colorized look to an image — simply because it looks cool. It’s a great way to introduce somebody with a bang. Seriously, I have no idea why I call this the Kill Bill Effect, but I still like it, and maybe so will you!

Decklink HD Extreme Review

December 3, 2009, 05:05 AM

My wife will tell you that I am a creature of habit. That definitely can be said about the breakfast cereal that I eat, and the type of video games I like to play, but it is also true of computer hardware as well. To be perfectly honest, I was an Avid purist for many years, until I had a very strict budget to work with, and I decided to purchase a Final Cut System.

Organizing an Editorial Dept. Using Backpack pt 1

December 3, 2009, 05:03 AM

Once the craze of Production is over and a temporary period of relative relaxation (known as the Director’s Cut) begins, it becomes time to clean up any messes leftover from Production and truly get the department in order. I’ve decided to use the cleanup period I’m currently in to test drive an organizational web app called Backpack. Made by 37Signals, Backpack is like a ready-made intranet for your office. All you need to do is get people to remember to use it.
