AMWA Floats Workflows at SPMTE Conference

November 26, 2009, 04:32 AM

In recent years, the post-production process has seen a tremendous increase in the number and complexity of video formats being used, a long list that includes aspect ratios, compression ratios and frame rates. Individually, these choices address specific project needs or budgets. Collectively, they increase the demands on editorial to properly handle the material coming in, turning it over to other departments, and delivering a project according to spec and on schedule.

Behind the Scenes with Film Editor Walter Murch

November 25, 2009, 04:31 AM

An 8 Min interview with Walter Murch: In the world of filmmaking, actors and directors dominate the spotlight. The people who actually assemble the film frame by frame and beat by beat toil in relative obscurity. Walter Murch is one film editor whose profile is much higher than most.

November 24, 2009, 04:26 AM

Avid released Media Composer version 4.0.4 this afternoon. The big news is that the new release is certified to work with Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.2). The bad news is that Avid recommends a clean install of Snow Leopard, not an upgrade.

The Online From HELL!

November 24, 2009, 04:25 AM

Well, after a normal shift onlining two acts (we decided to do the online act by act), and then a marathon 25 hour online session over the weekend, I am done. And that is all I pretty much did...online. No color correction as there was no time. This was the fastest and most down and ditry online I have ever done. I finished 10 min before the producer had to jump onto a plane with the tape and drive with all the media managed footage.

Media Composer 4.0.4 gets Snow Leopard Support

November 24, 2009, 04:24 AM

Earlier today Avid release Media Composer version 4.0.4. This version adds support for MacOS 10.6, or Snow Leopard. GREAT news for all those people who bought new Macs that only come with Snow Leopard installed. If you have Leopard, 10.5, then you can stick with what you have (MC 4.0.4 is compatible with Leopard, version 10.5.8.).
