(Grass Valley, California--June 21, 2011) Final Cut Pro X is the latest update for Apple’s popular non-linear editing software. It features a new user interface and boasts new, exciting features for editors. However, the way editors interact with third party tools, like the AJA KONA cards, is different from the previous versions of Final Cut Pro. AJA has prepared a document that explains how editors can use AJA products with the latest version of Final Cut Pro.

Apple released Final Cut Pro X yesterday with only a press release on its home page, but it arrived to a big chorus of boos in the App Store. From the first rumors, this application was destined to be controversial, and the first day has provided plenty for would-be early adopters to chew on.

As a composer as well as an editor myself, I've always found that there seemed to be a direct correlation to the construction of music to the art of editing. The pictures to the editor are like the notes to the composer. This is exceptionally illustrated with animation. Fantasia is a great example.

After a day of reading the forums, tweeting, and scanning the blogosphere, two COW leaders had a lot to talk about. Rich and Walter are not casual Final Cut Pro users... they've used it since version 1 and literally built their businesses using Apple tools. For them, today was the end of an era (Final Cut Studio and Final Cut Server were removed from sale). While both hope for the future, they each have strong opinions why they can't implement Final Cut Pro into their postproduction facilities.

I haven't had any time to spend with it yet; other than installing it last night. I hope to spend some time playing with it today. It certainly seems to have struck a chord, though what they chord is, I'm not sure. A huge amount of initial negative reaction, tempered with a bit of "but wait... (it could get better)"
