With 4K rapidly gaining hold as the medium of choice in Japan for movies, high quality TV programs and large screen public displays, post houses have turned to Quantel and Pablo Rio to handle 4K post production. The move to 4K is being boosted by the Japanese government which is targeting widespread delivery of 4K to homes throughout Japan by 2016 in time for the Olympic Games in Brazil. 1. This year the conference is taking place at the Meydenbauer Convention Center in Bellevue, WA. The Meydenbauer is a beautiful conference facility and we’ll have plenty of room for all. There’s a 300 seat theatre for keynote presentations and workshops, as well as big spacious classrooms for the rest of our training. Rooms will be set up classroom style, so we encourage you to bring you laptops and tablets this year.

The job of the assistant editor has never been so tough. Assistants are expected to handle a dizzying array of tasks including how to ingest a myriad range of file formats and codecs, Sync and group multiple cameras, prep for export and on-line and of course, organize, organize, organize. Assistants are often expected to know everything from "why did my computer crash" to "why can't I AMA link my 5D footage" to "where are my are keys?!".

Los Angeles -- Side Effects Software, creator of Houdini 3D Animation and VFX tools, and Toonlets Animation, a content and production studio, have announced the North American debut of Monstro! Written and directed by Christopher Romano, Monstro! is a 10-minute computer animated film starring Pili Montilla.
