Gigantic Studios, a post-production house in New York City, recently built a dual-purpose room for both sound mixing and colour correction. When the room is in sound mixing mode, it is a dual-operator 5.1, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos cinema mixing studio, nothing revolutionary there, the innovation comes in the form the floor sliding away to reveal a pit, allowing the mixers to work standing up whilst retaining an unobstructed view of the screen for both editors and clients alike.

Adam is a buddy of mine. We met back at Digital Dimension, working on a movie. Adam has worked for a number of studios throughout his career: Lucasfilm, Sony, Digital Domain, Disney, Imagi and a lot of other places. What I was really excited to talk about is Superman Returns and negotiating to be a part of that production.

LOS ANGELES — The recent airing of the series finale of Scandal on ABC capped off VFX Legion’s three-year run as the sole visual effect company for award-winning creator/producer/writer/director Shonda Rhimes’ political thriller. LOS ANGELES — Technicolor (www.technicolor.com) has announced the launch of the Technicolor Academy, a talent training and development program based on the methodology and success of MPC Film’s four-year old program, MPC Academy. The mission is to develop, nurture and grow computer graphics artists’ skills and abilities, and prepare them for a role at one of Technicolor’s film and episodic content VFX studios.
