TORONTO -- The sequel to Journey to the Centre of the Earth hits theaters tomorrow (February 10), and Eyeon's Fusion and Dimension software applications played a key role in bringing the fantasy to life. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island takes the viewer on an adventurous trip with Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, Josh Hutcherson, and Vanessa Hudgens to an island that houses the remains of the lost city of Atlantis.

BROOKLYN, NY — Pro Sound Effects (prosoundeffects.com) has released “European Capitals,” a sound library featuring nearly 20 hours of surround urban ambience recordings from six major cities in Europe. Recorded by sound designer Ken Skoglund (The Duel, Fire With Fire), with the assistance from recordists Anna Bertmark and Eric Eklund, the “European Capitals” library takes listeners on an authentic sonic journey through Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, London, Stockholm and Berlin.

LOS ANGELES — The 90th Academy Awards took place last night, honoring the top work in film for 2017. The Shape of Water took home multiple Oscars, including that for Motion Picture, Directing, Original Score and Production Design. Blade Runner 2049 was honored for Cinematography and Visual Effects, while Dunkirk won both audio categories - Sound Editing and Sound Mixing - as well as the Film Editing award. LAS VEGAS — The Creative Pro User Group Network recently announced plans for the 17th Annual Las Vegas SuperMeet, which will take place Tuesday, April 10th at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. The event coincides with the annual NAB Show, also taking place that week in Las Vegas. Editor Dylan Tichenor, ACE, who has been nominated for Oscar, BAFTA and ACE Eddie Awards, will be the SuperMeet’s featured presenter.
