A few days before the 2018 Academy Awards, we published an article about the crowd-funded British short movie "The Silent Child", written by Rachel Shenton and directed by Chris Overton, that had been nominated for an Oscar. Apple has announced that updates of Final Cut Pro X to 10.4.1, Motion to 5.4.1 and Compressor to 4.4.1 will be available as free upgrades on Monday April 9th 2018. Two big new features for FCPX are Closed Captions and the ability to use the new ProRes RAW codecs. Apple also announced that 2017 was FCPX's best year with over 500,000 new seats being sold, bringing the total tally of seats sold to over 2.5 million since launch.
