    Docs Finally added to poll

    September 21, 2009, 7:02 pm

An attentive reader pointed out that no documentaries had been submitted to our list of the greatest films ever edited. He then corrected it by giving us two fantastic suggestions. The Thin Blue Line cut by Paul Barnes and The Atomic Caf? cut by Kevin Rafferty, Pierce Rafferty and Jayne Loader. Keep the great suggestions coming and thanks Matthew for helping us bring documentary editing into the list.

‘Tear Us Apart’ is a psychological thriller about a young couple who are taken to a cottage in the woods for counseling following the disappearance of their daughter and who struggle to identify what's real and what isn’t. Crafted by the incredible writer John Kelley, produced by the unstoppable Francesco Loschiavo and directed and edited by yours truly (Devin Clarke).

Bohemian Rhapsody Editor Drops F-Bomb Over Viral M

      May 16, 2019, 4:15 am
Although it has a bevy of awards to its name and made almost $1 billion at the box office, Bohemian Rhapsody has faced quite a bit of criticism. The aspect of the film that has perhaps received the most criticism is the editing, particularly in the scene where Queen first meets manager John Reid, played by Mr. Chaos is a Ladder himself, Aidan Gillen. And that scene has been held up as evidence that Bohemian Rhapsody did not deserve all of its many accolades.

How to Get Hired as a Go-To-Editor

      May 15, 2019, 6:35 am
The best career advice I ever received was simply to “be prepared.” There’s no special technical expertise or secret handshake clique that magically gets you hired. Better to cultivate your craft and business acumen so that when opportunity knocks, you’re home.

Review: DaVinci Resolve 16's Cut Page

      May 13, 2019, 5:58 am
The biggest surprise from Blackmagic’s NAB Resolve demo was the addition of a brand-new page called the Cut Page. The new page is intended to simplify and streamline the editing process by removing many of the systematic elements of the edit page. The Cut Page is for those on the go — editors who drop their footage into the timeline then quickly edit, render, and deliver. This isn’t ideal for longer projects, but for short scenes and simple vlogs, the Cut Page is your new home.
