To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Earlier this week, Miami-based leading pro video dealer and rental house, Midtown Video, hosted a live event, in person and on the Internet, for instant global consumption. The 43-minute, multi-camera event focused on —and employed— some new technologies released NAB 2019 from LiveU (streaming encoders, now featuring H.265/HEVC) and NewTek, including two I had previously... In recent NABs, the back end of Central Hall was filled with LED luminaires from a vast number of companies, all showing various interpretations of “daylight” or “tungsten” light (some of them more impressionistic than others). This year, the emphasis was more on colored light in all its variations… Lenses with “Character” Cinema glass continues... The post NAB 2019: Things ‘n’ Stuff appeared first on ProVideo Coalition.

The new generation of graphics cards has enough power to allow real-time playback, edit and color grade of 8K footage, making it easier for filmmakers to use even higher resolutions. Earlier in 2018 NVIDIA and RED Digital Cinema announced they had solved the 8K bottleneck. Last December both companies showed in Hollywood how new processors... NAB 2019: 8K

NAB 2019 marked the point where — without any particular fanfare — 8K television moved from a gee-whiz technology demo to a practical production, post-production, and distribution system. Blackmagic Design’s signage was all about 8K; they showed off 8K recording, switching, terminal gear, and editing — everything, it seems, but cameras. No worries: Ikegami had... During the 1982 Cannes Film Festival, director Wim Wenders set up a 16mm camera and tape recorder in a room at the Hotel Martinez, then invited a lineup of world-class filmmakers to sit next to a television and answer the question “Is cinema a language about to get lost, an art about to die?”
