To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

I visited BBC New Broadcasting House in central London last week with Iain Anderson. As we were being shown around the BBC News headquarters, we happened across an animator working on a piece about Trump's inauguration day. He was editing it in Final Cut Pro X with plugins created in Apple Motion 5, both commercial and custom.  Iain and I gave him some tips in making plugins - including replicator sequence behaviours. He also showed us BBC-branded plugins he made for Final Cut Pro X title...

Google intelligent image scaling could mean 4K qua

PC magazine has written about a new Google technology that shows very good results in scaling up lower resolution stills to higher resolution: The new technique is called RAISR, which stands for "Rapid and Accurate Image Super-Resolution." [It] works by taking a low-resolution image and upsampling it, which basically means enhancing the detail using filtering. Anyone who's ever tried to do this manually knows that the end result looks a little blurred. RAISR avoids that thanks to mach...

We are in the final stages of fine cutting ‘Seeing Him’, a short film written, produced by and starring Vanessa Bailey. I have stepped into the directors shoes after my good friend Catherine Arton stepped down as director, entrusting me to finish her good work. I have already spent time working with our hugely experienced editor Chris Frith but wanted a fresh opinion.

OK, we're a stock footage company. But one of the reasons we built this is because we saw it coming. The "it" is what's actually happening now in commercial and non-commercial videos - aerial shots. And not just Helicopter shots, but drone stock shots. You can tell by the height on most shots and the "pep" of them.

These elements plus countless The post Creating Post-Production Workflow Efficiencies with the Avid NEXIS | PRO appeared first on ProVideo Coalition.
