It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

On a shady street in New Orleans’ Lower Garden District you’ll find Second Line Stages’ annex building, where Apex Post Production is located. Depending on the day you arrive, you might witness an ADR session for Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven or Ava DuVernay’s new TV show Queen Sugar. The man running the ADR session is Jon Vogl, a Los Angeles transplant and studio veteran who moved to New Orleans to take advantage of increased film and TV production in the state. In this sit-do...

This unbelievable, yet true, life story all began when a three-year-old disappeared. Not the horrible found in the woods type of disappeared, but suddenly he was lost to his family, stuck within the confines of his own head. It seemed as if he was just inextricably “gone.” When Pulitzer Prize winning writer, Ron Suskind and […] The post Life, Animated – Roger Ross Williams appeared first on Below the Line.

To Support The Prince’s Trust, Adobe launched the Creative Cause competition. Here, we catch up with the winner to find out more about his work. Here at Adobe, we don’t need an excuse to get creative, but for the last two months we’ve had an extra incentive. As part of our work with the Prince’s Trust, we founded the Adobe Creative Cause competition, which encouraged people across the UK to get artistic and share their masterpieces inspired by the charity’s work on social media. ...

La La Land is a common euphemism for Los Angeles and Hollywood, but it’s also writer/director Damien Chazelle’s newest film. Chazelle originally shopped La La Land around without much success and so moved on to another film project, Whiplash. Five Oscar nominations with three wins went a long way to break the ice and secure […]

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 74th annual Golden Globe Awards honored both entertainment veterans and newcomers Jan. 8 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, in a ceremony hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
