It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

While on the surface it might seem like Apple is making a huge mistake not at least offering NVIDIA on their new system, it looks look those dual AMD workstation FirePro GPUs have a few tricks up their sleeve, especially as it relates to OpenCL support on both Blackmagic’s DaVinci Resolve 10 and Adobe’s new CC software suite. Both are major players right now in the video space, and there will be some serious hardware acceleration thanks to these processors.

Grass Valley EDIUS is an extremely powerful and realtime multiformat NLE capable of handling resolutions up to 4K and 3D material. Many Adobe Premiere Pro editors can benefit by using the additional enhancements found in EDIUS, especially since the editing experience between the two NLEs is almost exactly the same. Differences exist primarily in colors, button designs, or names of tools. This Application Note provides everything needed to translate existing Premiere Pro editing skills into

When it comes to video editing, there are some important decisions to be made before ingesting media. You may find that you will save time in pre-processing your media ahead of time. This is especially true if your camera shoots in an AVCHD format, or similar equivelant.

If film editor Thelma Schoonmaker gets an Academy Award nomination on Thursday, it will be her eighth, and she's won three times. Schoonmaker may not be a household name for the general public, but in the movie industry, she is well known and respected as Martin Scorsese's editor, starting with "Raging Bull" all the way up to their current film, "The Wolf of Wall Street." NY1's Budd Mishkin filed the following One on 1 profile.

Alright, its time to just take the dive. Ballots have long been in and nothing as of late can influence the Academys nominations, so what will be on Thursday, in so many words, will be. What is Team HitFix thinking in the way of final predictions?
