It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Four months ago Zack Arnold contacted me with the idea for Fitness In Post, and I was so out of shape I barely made it to the meeting. It was my wake up call because the truth is, a lot of editors feel like crap and no one talks about it.

The OptiTrack equipment used in the company's Siggraph demo included 32 Prime 41 cameras mounted on a truss 25 feet high and running Motive:Body software in a capture volume of 32 feet by 30 feet. OptiTrack’s Prime 41 cameras provided the coverage to gather positional orientation data, while OptiTrack’s Motive software supplied the rigid body tracking, which allows users to create and automatically find th...

To create the post-apocalyptic Earth in CW’s “The 100,” Zoic VFX Supervisor Michael Cliett led a team to craft a wide range of menacing creatures including a two-headed deer, a mutant panther and radioactive butterflies. The team also created numerous epic shots of the “Ark” space station floating around Earth. The series was nominated for a 2014 Emmy Award for “Outstanding Special and Visual Effects.”

There are at least four different varieties of 3.5 mm plugs and jacks, each with its own purpose and application. In the last 60 days, several friends have had severe problems by not understanding the differences and innocently plugged the inappropriate plug into the jack on their recording device, which caused them severe problems. Shure is even including a special adapter with some of its latest MOTIV products to combat this misconnection epidemic. In this article, I explain and show them ...
