To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

NAB 2015: Killer Tracks

At NAB 2015, there are always a huge amount of stock music companies, and Killer Tracks is always leading the way, right in the center of the lower south hall. I guess the big question is, what does a “simple” stock music company have to offer every year, that would make people keep coming back?

The ASE’s Editor on Editor Series 2015. March 19th. Deb Peart ASE with Matt Villa ASE. by James Sutton Every time I walk into the AFTRS theatre I always stare lovingly at the old brick wall that’s on the right as you walk down the long hallway to the entrance. It’s the only remaining piece [...]

NAB 2015 Wrap-Up: The final days

April 20, 2015, 08:17 AM

http://postperspective.com/nab-2015-wrap-final-day...

By Will Rogers That was quite a week. Wednesday and Thursday at the NAB Show were much less hectically paced than Monday and Tuesday — no long lines for freshly squeezed product releases or swaths of spectators with tunnel vision. But don’t be fooled, every day of NAB is jam packed and fast paced, but the latter part of the week brought more of a wander-and-observe atmosphere. I forgot to set my alarm for the same time every day, so I got into Wednesday’s FCC keynote a little late. I...

You are probably familiar with Adobe Anywhere and Avid Everywhere, which use the power of the Cloud to manage production and collaborate all over the world. But those two 800 pound gorillas aren’t the only services in the online collaboration game. Last week at NAB, both Frame.io and Wipster showed off their online collaboration and video review services to those in attendance.

LONGER AND LONGER TAKES

April 20, 2015, 05:05 AM

http://lfhd.net/2015/04/19/longer-and-longer-takes...

There’s a new trend that has come about because of digital cinematography. Not only longer takes, but more footage overall. Back in the days of shooting film, you’d hear the words: “Roll sound.  Roll camera. ACTION!”  And then, after the scene was over, the words “cut!”  You might also hear the words “check the gate,” meaning [...]

PVC at NAB 2015: Talking monitors with EIZO and Fl

On the last day of NAB 2015 I grabbed a cameraman and wandered around the south hall and grabbed a few interviews in the booths of some products and services I found interesting. Monitors were one category I wanted to check out so I made a stop at both EIZO and Flanders Scientific. Pardon the shaky cam as I think we got some good info.
