To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Next week’s Apple Event is rumored to contain new AirPods, Mac Mini, and MacBook Pro with M1X chips inside. Display industry insider Ross Young suggested this week that there’s a “100% confirmed” chance we’ll see MiniLEDs in the display panels for the MacBook Pro units that’ll appear at this event, with a few nearly-as-likely updates.

IATSE and the AMPTP have concluded their fourth day of do-or-die bargaining and will resume negotiations for a new film and TV contract on Saturday. But if a deal is to be reached, and a strike averted, it will have to be made soon. “It’s a matter of days, not weeks,” IATSE president Matthew Loeb said tonight. Last weekend, the union’s members voted resoundingly (over 98%) in favor of granting him strike authorization if a deal can’t be reached.

The independent studio has produced work for more than 200 motion picture and series over the past three decades. ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA — VFX studio Rising Sun Pictures (rsp.au), which operates a training program for visual effects artists in partnership with the University of South Australia (UniSA), is reporting a 100 percent employment rate of its most recent graduating class. Six students, who earned undergraduate or Graduate Certificate degrees this past May, were also hired by Rising Sun Pictures as junior artists to work on an Australian film production.

LOS ANGELES — Ghost VFX (www.ghostvfx.com) has appointed Patrick Davenport president, replacing Tom Kendall, who has taken on the new role of head of business development, sales and marketing for the company. In addition, Paul Richards has joined Ghost as EVP of technology, while Crys Forsyth-Smith has been named EVP of global production. All four will be based at the company’s Burbank, CA, location.
