By the time of this writing, the whole world knows that Apple has revamped Final Cut Pro into an X version, and it's not like anything you've used. Is it iMovie Pro? Only superficially. It goes so far beyond that. Apple did get one thing right at its National Association of Broadcasters sneak peak; FCPX is a whole new paradigm in editing.

Final Cut Pro X has a great feature I wish legacy Final Cut had, the ability to globally find and replace title text in your Timeline. Say you're editing a video with a talking head who’s name is Conner. You feature him several times and include his name in lower thirds, graphics, credits, and more...

In Creative Cow's Premiere Pro forum, FCP switcher Walter Biscardi wanted to know how to raise the audio level for one or more selected clips as he used to in Final Cut Pro in the Gain Adjust dialog (Option+CMD+L is the well-known shortcut). Walter finds this option useful when raising or lowering voice overs by the same amount, for example.

A great deal of the look of the Timeline is controlled from an itty-bitty right-pointing arrow at the bottom of the Timeline. It is certainly not obvious, so look closely just to the right of the four-column track height bar chart.
