To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Other editors may let you string together a few clips. 1st Video allows users to create professional quality news items, movies or podcasts, with multi-track audio, on an iPhone 3GS device. The secret is VeriCorder's advanced audio /video editing software, which lets you seamlessly blend multitracksound with video clips from multiple recordings in a powerful but easy to learn, touch-based, non-destructive editor.

During the recent National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas, I had the opportunity to present Adobe Creative Suite 5 in the HP booth. I was very excited to get my hands on a fully loaded HP Z800 Workstation and test just how fast Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5 would run...

Will Hand Cut Movies Be the Future?

May 7, 2010, 04:03 PM

http://www.joyoffilmediting.com/?p=2769

Many editors who cut on film and made the switch to video or straight to digital complained that they missed the feel of the film in their hands, insisting that this was a vital part of editing that was lost in the transition.

In the final installment of the Color Correction series, we’ll highlight parts of a shot by using a vignette. Then, I’ll go through some Color Correction options that I hadn’t mentioned in previous episodes.

OK, I promise that this will be the last 3D post for a while. Since I left this subject six weeks ago, the world has gone cuckoo about 3D Editing and whether it should even exist.

Exodus from FCP to CS5

On April 5th, 2010, I published the article Will Adobe’s new Mercury technology provoke a sudden exodus from Final Cut Pro to CS5?. At that point, the title was still a question. Since then, NAB 2010 came and went without a word from Apple regarding the potential future of Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Studio.

Don’t know if anyone’s noticed, but Canon made a little digital SLR camera called the Canon 5D Mark II and, apparently, it shoots HD video... It seems that some people are quite excited about the whole thing.

When I first started teaching at USC’s film school some eight years ago a much much wiser person than me told me that there were several things I needed to know in order to teach well.
