It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

The new Premiere Pro CS4 4.2 and Adobe Media Encoder CS4 4.2 offer new improvements and enhancements to CS4 video workflows. With the 4.2 update, Premiere Pro now offers users of Panasonic’s AVC-Intra line of P2 cameras the chance to edit in native AVC-Intra format. This has been a longtime coming for AVC-Intra users and they can now enjoy the advantages of Adobe CS4 tapeless workflows and native editing.

The seventeenth episode of THE EDIT BAY is now available for download (I just now realized that I never announced that Ep.16 was too...I’ll fix that). This one is about having footage on the brain.

CULVER CITY - Editor Peter S. Elliot and assistant editor Rob Molina were part of the team that cut Roland Emmerich’s new apocalyptic feature 2012. The film stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover and Chiwetel Ejiofor, and was shot digitally using the Genesis camera, though 35mm was used for some underwater sequences. Post recently had a chance to chat with members of the editorial team regarding their work on the 2 hour and 35 minute film, which is loaded with visual effects, many...

Automatic Duck provides solutions for video editors needing to move between applications. To understand what they offer we need to step back in history. When Final Cut Pro appeared on the video scene in 1999 the professional world was entrenched with AVID. TO move an AVID project to Final Cut Pro or from Final Cut Pro to AVID was not a simple process.

In this demo recorded at the FCPUG NAB SuperMeet, Jason's charismatic style comes though as he shows off key technologies with Adobe's CS4 suite of applications. See how simple it is to bring a Final Cut Pro project into Adobe Premiere Pro, to then work with this content in After Effects and to author Blu-ray discs using Adobe Encore. Jason also shows how to make use of the Speech Transcription technology whilst editing.
