To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Hi Folks - At the end of last year, we removed Magic Bullet Denoiser from our website, discontinuing version 1 from our product line. At that time, we promised we would release a new version of Denoiser that would be more stable and free to current users of Denoiser 1. And as of today...

Transmedia Storytelling

Video Editors at the Eye of the Storm. I still remember the look of horror on my boss' face when I told him I watched Terrence Malik's classic, Days of Heaven on my laptop while simultaneously surfing the web on my desktop. So much for my annual 2 Percent increase. It was then that I realized...

ClickBerry Editor is One Program You Need to Know

February 28, 2012, 03:36 PM

http://www.videomaker.com/community/videonews/2012...

Video is traditionally a sit-back-and-watch type of media. Not so with the ClickBerry Editor from Actio-Media. This editing program allows viewers to interact with your video, click on links for information or make decisions. For example, you shoot a 24-year-old friend's birthday party and just like you would tag that friend in a photo, you could create a hyperlink to their profile so that others may learn more about the birthday boy or girl. (You're still a boy or girl at 24, right?)

Using Markers to Cut Interviews in FCPX

One aspect of FCP X that I hear a lot of people dislike is the fact that once a Range Start and End point are set in the Event Browser the range only remains selected while the clip is selected. The moment you select another clip the range is gone, and would need to be re-selected. Bring back subclips, I hear you say? Well that's where Keywords step in, of course.

These editors have taken time out of their schedule to provide their thoughts on the application. The views and expressions in this...

We recently set up a section in our forum labeled 'Made with Final Cut Pro' which led us on to think about whatever happened to the Apple approved practice of being able to add the information onto your film or video?

Most people think that the only way to work with real extruded 3D elements or 3D models inside of After Effects, is by purchasing a 3rd-Party Plug-in. Well, that's just not the case. In this tutorial, Kevin P McAuliffe show's you how, wiht a little help from Adobe's Photoshop, you can import and work with .3DS models inside of Adobe's After Effects, and have the model be effected by the 3D cameras in your compositions.

From Student to Pro Part 3

Parts 1/2 discussed how Fixation began as a short film to be shot in a single weekend, but then developed into a much larger project, consisting of 17 shoot days and a 40-minute final product. The crew members were all new filmmakers, trying to make a film that went beyond a simple graduation screening.
