It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Automation modes are an important part of the audio work-flow in Premiere Pro, saving a great deal of time and effort fading music over speech and automating the volume levels/changes of each of the tracks to get the best results with the least amount of work.

Take a 5 piece band, set them up in a car park, film and edit...simple. And with a little Magic Bullet Looks and Mojo you get simply perfect results.

With no new hardware and no sign of FCPX, Steve Jobs' keynote speech was nevertheless a classic. We detail some of the points that will relate to the Pro Apps user. How about a 97 percent price reduction for one!

Shared Storage – the least sexy of the post production technologies. Shared Storage is not the hot chick in class. She’s the quiet librarian with glasses that you end up falling for when the unreliable hot chick loses her sheen. She’s got everything you need: reliability and stability, and flashing lights. (Maybe the flashing lights thing is just me.)

(This is going to be an ongoing post on how to avoid common pitfalls when multigrouping) Multigrouping is intense. It's the make or break part of getting promoted and moving up to being an editor. (For shows containing multigroups of course) Some people get it and some people don't. There is a lot to remember [...]

Today we're talking local server networking with computers using a Mirrored RAID set, Mac computers and Final Cut Pro. This will work with Final Cut Pro X when it comes out. In fact when you no longer have to transcode things your life will be much nicer.

Editing is a lonely business, us editors rarely mix so that's why we spend so much time on the internet! Want to hear five top editors talk about their hope for the new version, their concerns, and how they are preparing for the impending change in editing technology?

So the big question for today is will we see FCPX in the Steve Jobs keynote presentation at the Worldwide Developers Conference? Our money would be on FCPX being shown running on any new hardware that might be announced. What better way to keep the forums and Twitter alive with new rumours and add more excitement as we get nearer the launch date.
