It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Even after years on Smoke, sometimes it still amazes me. When working in local broadcasting, we have a lot of monthly clients. Footage and elements will get reused from month to month and spot to spot. So I have a project, that contains libraries of video and graphics. Some of these graphics are elements I have...

On this Episode of That Post Show, we are proud to have Zack Arnold and Norman Hollyn. We discuss The Bannen Way and Burn Notice and talk about editing for TV and film. Think you can write a theme song? Give it a try. If we use it, you could win cool stuff (like an Amazon Kindle)

Autodesk has been around since the early 80s when John Walker and some of his programmer friends founded it as a small company based on their original product, AutoCAD, an early Computer Aided Design program acquired from programmer Michael Riddle. It's Riddle's early innovations that set the ball rolling, and it's worth a look back to see how it all began.

Thanks to a very my very unfortunate mistake my former hosting provider, TekTonic.net, deleted the Virtual Server that stored this website (and a bunch of other things). Long story short is that I didn't have sufficient backups of the website content and at this stage it doesn't look like it will be possible to restore the server as it existed before.

Ever since the launch of RED Digital Cinema, 4K imagery has become an industry buzzword. The concept stems from 35mm film post, where the digital scan of a film frame at 4K is considered full resolution and a 2K scan to be half resolution. In the proper used of the term, 4K only refers to frame dimensions, although it is frequently and incorrectly used as an expression of visual resolution or perceived sharpness. There is no single 4K size...

2011 saw the introduction of the next great thing in high-speed-data port connections with Apple's Thunderbolt. It really is a cool technology that could very well make the multi-cable peripheral-connection spaghetti-mess a thing of the past. The kind of speed that Thunderbolt is capable of delivering would be most at home on the digital professional's desktop, so it’s video and photography folks who will most likely be adopting this technology first.
