It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

David Battistella, ever willing to engage in new adventures in film and digital capture, has taken the leap toward editing his latest work with the new Final Cut Pro X. When you watch the clip from Calcio Storico Fiorentino, you will feel drawn in to the action, taste the dust in your mouth, feel the strength and violence of the game, and be washed away by the sheer power of this centuries-old sport. That's how well FCPX worked for David.

Philip Hodgetts had been given a copy of FCPX the week before it was released so he had the time to use the application for a bit longer than others. Planet5D decided to put together a live conversation with him as he is someone with more experience using the new Final Cut Pro than those who had just purchased it...

Another big concern with FCPX is whether or not it's easy to work with Keyframes. In this tutorial, you will see that working with Keyframes is easier than it has ever been!

Rebuilt from the ground up, FCP X takes full advantage of the latest Apple hardware and Mac OS to solve the most difficult technical challenges in video editing, allowing filmmakers to focus on creative storytelling.

The New York Times recently posted an article online about Final Cut Pro X. In the post, David Pogue explains how FCPX is a brand new application and lists the pros and cons of it. Also, he tells the public how pissed off professional editors are with Apple. In 10 years of writing Times columns

I met with some folks from Apple yesterday, just a day after Final Cut Pro X was released, and almost as soon after the new release started coming under fire. Both of the company's demo artists were well versed in FCP X’s new features and provided a pretty compelling demonstration showing why FCP is well suited for broadcast and independent film work.

One of the biggest concerns in FCPX is the ability to take projects with you on the go with you. Well, in this tutorial, Kevin P McAuliffe shows you that with a little forward thinking, taking projects with you is no problem at all!
