To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

It is common at the annual equipment exhibition of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention to find products that are smaller, lighter, less-expensive, and better than what came before. Occasionally, there are even breakthroughs. But a complete reversal is something different. Yet that’s what happened at NAB 2011.

Huh?... As "El Profesional" video editor I don't quite know what to make of this. Google, which seems to release a new product a week apparently launched the You Tube video editor a year ago with very little fanfare. Is this a harbinger of things to come? A validation of the future of remote editing?

Take two gorgeous young models, plenty of sexy costumes and a London loft, and you have the perfect visual complement to the haunting new song "The Runner" by hot indie rockers The Boxer Rebellion. Directed by the UK collective known as DarkFibre, the new music video was edited by jumP LA's Nick Lofting, who gives the clip a magical, dream-like quality.

Having just finished a television series and survived a process of offline editing on Final Cut Pro in full resolution, ProRes proxy, HD, I think it’s safe to say, "Caveat Emptor", buyer beware.

PluralEyes has really made a name for itself with editors as the DSLR workflows have been explored more and more. PluralEyes is a software solution that allows you to automatically sync up the separate audio and video files from, say, a 5D Mark II DSLR with an audio file from a handheld digital recorder, like the ZOOM.
