It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Upon the release of After Effects CS5 in 2010, Adobe tried an interesting experiment: Part of the After Effects engineering team was split off to start work on major new features for CS6 with a 24-month time horizon, while the rest started work on...

Today Adobe announced the full feature set of Creative Suite 6. Here are the features that stood out at me: Open CL - Mac laptop users do not get a choice as to which brand of graphics card they use so it's great to see GPU acceleration extended for people with ATI graphics cards.

The time is almost upon us as thousands of film and video professionals descend on Las Vegas for NAB Show 2012. I'm continuing my mini-series of NAB previews. Today I'll focus on Post|Production World.

The cat is out of the bag on the Adobe CS6 Production Premium. It isn't shipping yet but I've been able test out some of the CS6 products for a few weeks now. While there's big additions and changes in the entire Creative Suite my first and main focus was to see just how Premiere Pro has changed...

With so much great stuff in CS 6, Adobe didn't give this development as much attention as I think it deserves.

Learn how to fix poorly lit green screen using Red Giant’s Colorista 2 plugin for After Effects. Using Colorista, you can select harsh shadows in your chroma key and enhance the exposure, saturation, etc. to match the rest of your key. This type of enhancement is not limited to just Colorista. You can use any...

And Mark Spencer and Steve Martin do their level best to keep me going in this hour and a half interview on MacBreak Live, wherein I discuss how I got started with color correction in the first place, why I like using Resolve, control surfaces, monitors, grading for the web, how I organize grades, how to move projects from Final Cut Pro X to Resolve, why experience matters, and what I think distinguishes colorists who take the craft seriously. It was a fun chat, I hope you like it.

Wow. What a year. All I can say it has been an absolute BLAST putting together Ae CS 6 with the team in Seattle, as well as working with the rest of the whole Professional Video crew here at Adobe. After Effects CS 6 (along with the rest of Production Premium) is huge, dramatically different and to me – insanely cool. Here’s the link with more detail...
