To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

January 12, 2012, 04:11 PM

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/FinalCutWhiz/~3/xYX...

Editing blue or green screen in Final Cut Pro X is both easy and simple to do, but it is also a little different compared to Final Cut Pro 7. Before We Begin Editing One thing you need to keep in mind before we even import our footage is the way you set up your...

Sony Vegas Pro 11 Review

If there's one thing that stifles creative energy with deadly effectiveness, it's having to wait. That's why the new GPU-accelerated features in Sony's Vegas Pro 11 video-editing application (600USD as of January 3, 2012) are more welcome than pretty much anything else Sony could have done for this application.

A Key Blend at Java Post

Last year we spoke to Jack Tunnicliffe at Java Post in Regina, Western Canada and he gave us some insights into producing the Canadian TV series InSecurity. The show's FX-heavy visuals rely heavily on a couple of Red Giant stalwarts, Magic Bullet Colorista II and Red Giant Warp, but Jack’s go-to tool for greenscreen finishing and fine tuning is Key Correct.

Window of Opportunity: Are PCs Poised to Take Back the Edit Suite? I'll admit it – I'm a Mac Guy. And for those that regularly read my blog posts, newsletter articles or have checked out some of my workflow hacks this is isn't news. Lately though, I've become a lot more...

BCM to go with Adobe and Avid

January 12, 2012, 08:10 AM

http://www.biscardicreative.com/blog/2012/01/bcm-t...

After months of testing, playing, discussing, testing, playing, and then discussing some more, we've decided that moving forward Biscardi Creative Media will support both Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer workflows moving forward. What we found as we went through the testing is that there are positives and negatives to both systems so it's really hard to just choose one. As my editors got to playing with both...

In this episode Terence and Philip discuss the outsourcing of editing jobs, remote (a.k.a cloud) editing and automation in production. What's happening now and how will it evolve in the near future. Philip also sneaks in a preview of an interesting show he'll be involved with in 2012. Thanks Alex Talavera for editing and making...

A brand new plugin from Graeme Nattress, Levels and Curves gives you on screen colour correction controls in Final Cut Pro X. Anybody who has been in the FCP ecosystem will tell you Graeme Nattress has huge respect within the industry. His plugins were not only some of the first filmlook style available, they are also among the best.

What about the non-Broadcast arena?

January 11, 2012, 03:37 PM

http://www.buttonpusher.tv/2012/01/11/444/

As a followup to my previous post, I received this question (or something like it) in a few emails: "do you think this same trend will hit the non-broadcast arena?" The answer is, it depends. It depends on what kind of work you are doing. Final Cut Pro X is not an unusable editor for many folks. Undesirable for some, but it is capable of editing programs together. People who are editing for the web or for DVD delivery...
