To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

Ross Shain, chief marketing officer of Imagineer Systems headlined our meeting showing us mocha Pro for Mac, Windows and Linux. He explained how easy it was to replace content on screens, stabilize footage and marry graphics to camera motion, emphasizing to many in the audience who owned a recent version of the Adobe Creative Suite that they already had mocha AE and probably didn't know it.

Best Audio Format for Editing in FCP?

November 19, 2011, 08:07 AM

http://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/aiff-mp3-and-wavs-...

The most obvious fix to this problem is to use a higher-quality audio file format if avaliable. Most stock music sites (such as Premiumbeat) will provide their music and sound effects as either WAVs or AIFFs…both formats that play well with Final Cut Pro. Mixes from audio post facilities, as well as audio files from digiatal field recorders, are often recorded as WAVs. Some Mac applications will save high quality audio files as AIFFs. So, now you might be scratching your head…

As reported in some forums, if you're trying to use DNxHD Quicktimes in Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5.2 and you have an AJA Kona card installed, you might run into an issue where the playback stutters badly. There's an easy fix for this. This is all on the 2.4Ghz 8-core Mac Pro, running OS 10.6.8, connected to our Small Tree Ethernet SAN and this is with DNxHD 145, 72op / 59.94 video.

Why is my Multigroup out of sync?

November 18, 2011, 04:06 PM

http://avidassteditor.com/2011/11/18/why-is-my-mul...

There are 2 main reasons for this: The clips out of sync with each other. (And as a result the multigroup is out of sync.) The wrong auxiliary timecode has been assigned to your subclips. While syncing the clips it is imperative that all of the clips are correctly synced to one another before creating [...]
