It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Pacing - To advance or develop (something) at a particular rate or tempo. That is the definition I pulled that is most appropriate. Pacing first and foremost should advance your story. How do you advance your story with pacing you ask? The pace of a story, or a section of the story tells the viewer...

I received this article from a NY Film Academy teacher. It's laudable because it explains to eager shooters the importance of editing and why it should be considered from the get go. Thank you John and Anjum Bhardwaj who emailed me the request and article! When the Cinematographer Thinks Like an Editor by John Loughlin...

I am back in the post production world of Assistant Editing at JOHLT Productions, a company formally known as Edelman Productions. After a half decade of working in TV advertising sales I realized my true passion was to spend the rest of my life working in the production side of the house. So, I decided to go back to what I was doing before trying to become either a freelance or full time video editor. This was something I felt I could do for a very long time and not have any regret I was in it.

The Bad Robot's editorial, sound and VFX teams are responsible for such television hit series as Lost, Revolution, Alias and Person of Interest as well as several blockbusters including Joy Ride, Mission: Impossible III and Star Trek. It is really great that they will share their experience and knowledge during this event.

Feature Film Editorial Round Up One of the things that's great about the online post production community is getting insights into the latest interesting feature films even before they hit the screens (in the UK at least).

I remember sitting in the theatre watching Ingmar Bergman’s Wild Strawberries and being blown away by the visual metaphors in this movie. His opening dream sequence — the clock with no hands, the coffin spilling out of the hearse — captured my imagination.
