Last year, before the launch of the new Mac Pro a lot of concerns regarded no possibility for internal expandability – no additional storage, optical drives, PCIe slots. An idea came up to use the old Mac Pro as an expansion chassis using PCIe card connected via Thunderbolt 2 to the new Mac Pro. This was reported at Alex4D blog (link here).
