To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Most people aren’t movie aficionados, and most of those people aren’t even sure what the word “aficionado” means. But they do know a good flick when they see it, and more often than not, Pixar churns out some great pieces of entertainment.

If you are reading this, you may be familiar with Sausage Party, which at the time of this writing is on its way to becoming one of the most successful talking-food movies of all time. You might have read some stuff about how raunchy or funny it is or isn't. I don't care about any of that. Whether they made a masterpiece or a turd, they apparently did it by treating their animators like trash.

It’s sad to say, but stories of poor working conditions are becoming an embarrassingly regular occurrence in our industry.

The new adult animated film “Sausage Party,” starring Seth Rogen and Kristen Wiig, opened in theaters last Friday to positive reviews and a great box office performance, grossing over $36 million against a $19 million budget. Much has been made about how directors Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon made an CG animated film on such a low budget, but animators are alleging that an oppressive production schedule and intimidation tactics played a part in the film’s success.

Pixar has always excelled at creating unique and appealing characters in its films. With Finding Dory, the studio already had the appeal of Nemo, his father Marlin and of course the forgetful blue tang Dory, so any new characters had to be something extra special.
