It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Apparently the new Adobe Creative Cloud 2015 will erase older Adobe software by default, which is different than previous Creative Cloud installers. Adobe has always allowed users to continue to use older versions of the software alongside newer versions. Angie Taylor took the time to post this short video on how to properly install CC […] The post Watch BEFORE You Install Adobe Creative Cloud 2015 appeared first on WalterBiscardi.com.

Here is the update that we all heard about at NAB and it’s now ready for all of us. I have a love hate relationship with Premiere Pro CC. I edited a long format show and boy was it a PITA to color grade and my editor also was pulling his hair out doing the edit.

Last year, as I was sprinting down the street trying to stay ahead of six angry bulls in Pamplona, Spain, I held my phone behind me to capture some video of the experience, all the while thinking, how am I going to color-correct this video? And then I looked up at the beautiful old buildings facing the street and thought, hey, that palette would really work well with the talking-head videos I had been editing in my hotel room the night before. But how to capture those colors and reuse them? Than...

With each passing year, the line between mobile and desktop continues to blur. No longer limited to content consumption alone, smartphones and tablets have become powerful tools capable of liberating artists and designers from having to create their best work while chained to a computer.

The 11 Second Club forum recently returned to normal service after a bit of buggy downtime, and I’ve been posting there a lot more since the fix. One thing that keeps springing up lately is an obsession with movement. Unfortunately what a lot of animators seem to be forgetting is: Animation isn’t about movement.
