To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

This post starts off from last weeks post, where the birdhouse has been created using a circle and a polygon. Now to create the roof. A new path will be created using the pen tool. A simple path which follows the natural lines of the top of the current structure. When creating a new path, you should make sure that the path is created on a new empty layer, (shown in in red). Once the path has been made and closed, then a right click will bring up the context menu and ‘Convert Path to Extru...

I have created two new sets of film look LUT’s for the FS7, F5 and F55. These LUT’s should be used in conjunction with S-Log3 and SGamut3.cine. They will give you a high contrast film like look that mimics Kodak film stock with slightly blue dark and mid tones and warm skin tones. The are 3D cube LUT’s and the two sets include LUT’s with compensation for under and over exposure.

Acer’s new monitor, XB280HK, is, no doubt, conceived for gaming, but the fact that it was selected as a breakthrough product among thousands of others in search of the top 100 tech innovations of the year, which are being highlighted in Popular Science’s December issue, suggests we will be seeing more 4K monitors in the next months. And not just for gaming. They’re just becoming... popular, meaning prices will come down, and we will see more models coming to the market, for different uses.

A lot of people love the music in Gravity. Our review agreed that “Steven Price’s gorgeous and terrifying score only tie[s] up the film’s peerless technical package.” It even won the Oscar in that category. But there are also a lot of people who hate the music.

Post-production supervisor pushes quality and guides integration using Adobe Creative Cloud In the past decade, Peter Mavromates has worked on more than a dozen feature films, as well as a few TV series, generally serving as post-production supervisor. One thing that many of his projects have in common is the director: David Fincher. Mavromates knows that working with Fincher means the standards will be high, but he likes it that way. For Gone Girl, the main challenge was implementing a com...
