To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

EDL en Final Cut Pro X con "EDL-X "

September 25, 2014, 11:24 AM

http://finalcutargentina.blogspot.com/2014/04/edl-...

Avoid Group-Think, Where Great Ideas Go to Die

Trying to nail down a great idea in a large group of intelligent individuals can be unwise. For every reason to go forward with an idea, someone will think of a reason not to. By overanalyzing the concept, any progress gets paralyzed.

10 Fan Edits That Totally Transform Famous Films

One of our pet peeves is when creative types dismiss all criticism of their art by people who aren’t artists themselves. You know the sort: the self-righteous musicians, writers or filmmakers who shrug off bad reviews with the zinger “well how many books have you written/how many number ones have you had/how many successful movies have you made?”

Primatte Keyer 5.1 works with FCPX

You can create a chroma key in Final Cut Pro X, but the options to make it a perfect key are limited. That’s not the case with Red Giant Software’s Primatte Keyer, the chroma key technology used in major films like Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Harry Potter, King Kong and Spider-Man, which finally became available for Final Cut Pro X. I took Primatte Keyer 5.1 for a test drive.

Fast Export At Optimal Quality in Adobe Premiere

If you ever have heavy effects or AE dynamic linking in your Premiere sequence, you might have to render some elements of your sequence for playback. There’s no reason not to use these renders for your final export, but for this, you need to make sure you’re not causing generational loss by rendering to an intermediate (inferior) codec, which will then be transcoded again when you’re mastering out.

Avid Smart Tool Functions

Avid editors have certainly used the Timeline for decades, but Avid has always been much more conducive to keyboard editing. Final Cut Pro editors—and I realize that I’m generalizing—are often much more comfortable moving and trimming their sequences using the arrow tool and the Timeline trimming functions to drag segments and transitions quickly and efficiently...
