It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Let’s talk about the DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard. It was a big surprise at NAB 2019 because let’s be honest, editors don’t often get hardware products dedicated to editing. We get software out the wazoo, both big and small, but the time and expense to create a hardware device is probably much greater than many... This year the NAB Show seemed to emphasize its roots – the “B” in National Association of Broadcasters. Gone or barely visible were the fads of past years, such as stereoscopic 3D, 360-degree video, virtual/augmented reality, drones, etc. Not that these are gone – merely that they have refocused on the smaller segment of marketshare […]

By Tim Nagle If you’ve been there, you know. Attending NAB can be both exciting and a chore. The vast show floor spread across three massive halls and several hotels and will challenge even the most comfortable shoes. With an engineering background and my daily position as a Flame artist, I am definitely a gear-head, Continue reading → April 12, 2019 The post AI and deep learning at NAB 2019 appeared first on Randi Altman's postPerspective.

An odd combination, but one when you read the article below, all will become clear. We post the pictures from the first Faster Together event in Las Vegas and post a free Final Cut Pro X plugin that was used for the quick-turnaround edits on the night.

Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve remained probably the best bargain on the show floor at NAB 2019, as Blackmagic showed off a slate of new tools in its free NLE and finishing system that seem aimed at making basic editing simpler, faster, and more intuitive — as well as, of course, feature additions that help it keep […] The post Blackmagic Resolve Gets Better (Again) with Version 16 appeared first on Studio Daily.

It’s always something of a challenge to uncover the hidden and not so hidden gems at NAB. Teradek’s zero-latency Bolt 4K transmitter with a 1500-foot range is a tour de force of proprietary technology; the manufacturer utilizing its own secret sauce and broadband RF to address one of the most vexing problems we face on […] The post NAB 2019: Uncovering What Matters appeared first on Studio Daily.
