To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Easy-to-use, readily-accessible, and consumer-oriented, online file sharing platforms such as Dropbox and Google Drive are, to end users, a pleasant replacement to older file transfer methods such as FTP. FTP is complex to use and requires IT intervention to make almost any change. The pain associated with FTP, which was developed in the 1970s, is one of the factors that opened the door for the rise of online file sharing services in the workplace.

Get up and running with Adobe Animate—Flash rebo

Back in the 90’s, Macromedia Flash was the king of web-based animation and it was everywhere. Then in 2010 the great Steve Jobs drove a stake right through its heart, refusing to endorse it on the iOS platform. A testament to the strength of the iPhone and the nascent HTML5 standard, Flash died a fast death (surprisingly fast for many of us, given just how universally adopted it had been up until that moment.)

I’ve been singing the praises of SSDs like everyone else. SSDs featuring the latest 3D architecture and Thunderbolt are the way to go: They are super-fast, use very little power, contain no moving parts, and are getting cheaper all the time. Then why are we still buying spinning-disc mechanical hard drives? Two reasons: high capacity […] The post Review: G-Technology G-Drive Mobile 4 TB USB-C HDD appeared first on Studio Daily.

It is a good question and of course you can guess the NLE used in the trial. It's a short video, but worth watching for the comparisons and conclusion, especially as it is the base model.

Directed by Marielle Heller, Can You Ever Forgive Me? is the true story of author Lee Israel, a brilliant New York curmudgeon who began forging uncannily witty letters by cultural legends after her own career had stalled. With a less glamorous though no less authentic 1990s New York City as its backdrop, the film features an awards-worthy turn […] The post Anne McCabe, ACE, on Cutting Can You Ever Forgive Me? appeared first on Studio Daily.
