To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

From scissors and cement in the hands of Griffith and Méliès through stand-up editing on the Moviola, and Scorsese and Schoonmaker creating Woodstock on a flatbed, the history of film editing defined the craft and perfected the medium.

It’s that time of year again and we are only a month away (or less) from the 2013 National Association of Broadcasters convention. I’m sure this year will be another big year with lots of new hardware, software, toys and gizmos introduced for everyone to fondle and ogle over. In year’s past I’ve tried to catalog some of the happenings in a blog post so here is the NAB 2013 edition, though not as detailed as 2012.

This first day of Adobe Summit was intense – in a good way – and full of great news and sessions. We started the day off with more than 5,000 attendees from all around the world coming together for Brad Rencher’s kickoff keynote, “The Last Millisecond”.

Amazon and Barnes and Noble are on board but ol’ Apple is still dragging their heels! I would love to do 50% off day one time to give everyone a fair shake, so let’s push this to deal to Friday (March 8th) and see if Apple will release the book in the meantime. Forever thanks...

When Apple axed Final Cut Server, it left a void in the digital asset management (DAM) market. Possible replacement company Cantemo has published a sneak video preview on the FCPX and Cantemo Portal workflow.

Ae and Sherry Hitch

I first got involved in the visual effects industry in the 1990s. I'd gone to film school and art school and thought I might try to be a director someday. I went to work as a PA at a VFX boutique house, Foundation Imaging, which was starting to do visual effects on desktop machines. It was the early 90s when most visual effects were still done by machines that cost far and away more than Adobe After Effects.

Enhance Your Audio Mix in Premiere Pro

March 6, 2013, 05:42 AM

http://www.fallenempiredigital.com/blog/2013/03/06...

Premiere Pro’s audio effects fall squarely into two categories: completely utilitarian or disappointingly lackluster. The utilitarian effects like fill left or right, swap channels, channel volume, and others don’t need replacing because they do their simple jobs transparently. Effects like band pass, dynamics, parametric eq, and the noise reduction effects all perform poorly.
