It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

One of the students, the best in class, still hesitated and was not sure what he wants to say. The storyline did not exist but what he did have was a collection of interesting quotes from Sherry Turkle talk at TED, and a number of important anecdotes from a book by Dr. Yair Amichai-Hamburger. But nothing was yet clear or coherent. I’m known for not giving permission to proceed, for those who are not able to presents a clear script (backed with a detailed storyboard).

While in the plug-in pavilion at NAB 2014 I dropped by the NewBlue FX booth to take a look at Titler Pro 3.0. This is a big update to their popular Titler Pro product that includes one very nice, very helpful thing: templates.

As superheroes go, Tony Stark aka Iron Man, is refreshingly human. Underneath that suit of high-tech armour, he's arrogant, tortured and has a dodgy ticker to boot. The occasional army of alien interlopers aside (Avengers Assemble) his enemies tend to be equally relatable, if never exactly run of the mill.

3D printing is a manufacturing process that is used to produce three-dimensional objects from a digital design. It is also commonly called additive manufacturing. Complex shapes are produced in successive layers from particles of metal, resin or plastic. This makes it cheaper and easier to produce a single product than most traditional production methods, which rely on cutting and removal of excess materials.

Well, that’s how it seems to me. With Game of Thrones dominating the TV schedules, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug just out on Blu-ray, it’s a wonder we haven’t all been burned to a crisp.

An Introduction to Expressions Expressions are special text instructions that you can apply to node channels. Nodes are discrete units of a hierarchy that store information (such as a transformation matrix, geometry attributes, and so on), while channels are keyable attributes of a node, such as Translate X, Visibility, and so on. The instructions can...

Making the Robocop suit a reality, piece by piece. Legacy Effects is often tasked with taking a virtual design and making it work in the real world. Never was this more the case than with ROBOCOP: How do you make a skin-tight suit that has to flex and move but also behave like a bulletproof suit of armor? Go behind the scenes with the Legacy team as they make the robotics of Robocop a reality.
