Article Humour Video Blog Audio Industry News Site News Tutorial Press Release Events

To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

If I had to pick one constant among independent film festival submissions it would be unintelligible dialogue. The cause of desperation of every director; the bane of every mixing engineer’s existence; the source of suffering of your friends and family, forced to go through a whole movie they don’t understand because the actors’ words simply can’t be heard. This and many other nuances of your film’s sound are the victims of a few often overlooked details, which in turn result in th...

A quarter-century for Premiere Pro

I don’t normally plug a manufacturer’s promotional marketing events, but this one seems especially noteworthy. At the end of last year, Adobe Premiere Pro hit its 25th anniversary. It launched in November 1991 as simply Premiere and has gone through numerous iterations – from Premiere to Premiere Pro, CS and now CC. Premiere Pro in […]

Benchmarking Adobe After Effects CC 2014 vs. 2017

A short continuation to my first article re: the removal of multiprocessing / multithreading from Adobe After Effects. I wanted to give it another shot with some different variables and this time on PC. I decided on one render test with all shape layers & vectors, and another render with only Element 3D. To see how lack of multiprocessing impacted these types of compositions.

Customers who move from a file system to a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system such as Adobe Experience Manger Assets (AEM Assets) realize many benefits, including but not limited to more comprehensive search, access to augmented asset metadata, and workflows to syndicate content to multiple channels. Assets under management in many DAM systems tend to be locked in the DAM, accessible through a search interface that lets users collect assets for extraction from the DAM. Once the user down...

Review: Logic’s Astra PC keyboard for Resolve 12

By Brady Betzel I love a good keyboard. In fact, my favorite keyboards have always been mechanical, or pseudo-mechanical, like those old Windows keyboards you can find at thrift stores for under 10 bucks — in fact I went back and bought one just the other day at a Goodwill.
