To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

metadata relinking to essence problems to solve

What metadata linking elegance does one choose? The gear locking metadata to relink using a custom column opened the door for me to further come-up with some more things that could relink with this method. If Start timecode, duration, custom column, are a metadata match --->relink selected seems to be working.

... [Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg] are in production on their first animated movie, Sausage Party, which they said is tedious and challenging, and only bearable because they love what they are creating.

Guillermo Arriaga, Bela Tarr, and "the stories".

Two inspiring and different approaches from two striking filmmakers — Guillermo Arriaga [screenwriter] and Bela Tarr [director].Virginia Aguirre E., from Autonomous University of Mexico State interviewed Guillermo Arriaga for La Colmena magazine in 2005.—¿El artista debe tener un compromiso ético o moral, Guillermo? —No. Básicamente tiene que haber un compromiso con contar la historia.[...]—Yo procuro no dar mensajes de ningún tipo. Yo procuro escribir una historia. Si las hist...

Been getting peppered with questions of late.  “Where have you been?”   “What’s going on?”  “Your Blog has been quiet lately.” That’s what happens when you’re re-inventing your business model….. again.    The key to a successful business is never being afraid of change.  What worked in the past was great, but that doesn’t mean […]

The day after the WWDC keynote, after I’d skimmed the Swift documentation, I learned from this post by Clark Goble and this tweet by Allen MacKenzie that Yosemite was going to have a new scripting language. Or maybe an old scripting language resurrected. Either way, JavaScript is going to take a spot alongside AppleScript as a way to script applications via Apple Events.

As the TAG 401(k) Plan moves closer to switching to Vanguard Mutual Funds (it happens August 1st) we look for ways to get members more involved with saving for retirement.
