metadata relinking to essence problems to solve

What metadata linking elegance does one choose? The gear locking metadata to relink using a custom column opened the door for me to further come-up with some more things that could relink with this method. If Start timecode, duration, custom column, are a metadata match --->relink selected seems to be working.
