It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell
Aotg.com Founder

By Randi Altman Remember those “Terry Tate, Office Linebacker” spots for Reebok? One premiered during the 2003 Super Bowl and quickly become the talk of water coolers everywhere. Editor Jason Painter won a Cannes Gold Lion, an AICE Award and a Clio for his work on that campaign. To borrow from another sport, some would […]The post Quick Chat: Butcher editor Jason Painter appeared first on postPerspective - Randi Altman's postPerspective.

I let myself get sucked into a click-bait blog article the other day and it got me thinking about what I had done. It was click bait for a number of reasons but the actual content of the majority of the article was a decent summary of the non-linear editing tools we have available. With a title like What’s the Best NLE Software for Professional Movie Editing? you know it might likely do downhill from the first click. The article came from a learning resource called Lights Online Film S...

Many of you will have noticed that when you attempt to open project files from a previous version in Premiere Pro CC 2014.1, you are prompted to convert to a new project (though the original project is not modified and remains on disk). A result of this is that projects saved in 2014.1 cannot be opened in previous versions of Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 brought multiple new features to the application, and as a result, it was necessary to upgrade to a new project version. Pleas...

We all like to be more productive with our time, and since we're all creatures of the computer, anything that helps either decrease our waiting time or that gives us more options is welcome. Here are 7 things that I've found to be very helpful in increasing productivity, and they're all less $100. Not all are computer related but they're extremely useful all the same.
