It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Continuing a successful run at guild events, "Gravity" won Best Live-Action Sound Mixing at the Cinema Audio Society Awards, beating Oscar rivals "Captain Phillips," "Inside Llewyn Davis," and "Lone Survivor" as well as "Iron Man 3." At the Oscars, "Iron Man" lost out to "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" for the fifth Sound Mixing bid.

The Academy has tapped Paul Sandweiss and his crew from Sound Design Corporation to capture the live musical performances at the Academy Awards, March 3. This year’s show will include stirring renditions of best song nominees “Let it Go” from Frozen, “Happy” from Despicable Me 2, “Ordinary Love” from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and “The Moon Song” from Her.

Top honors at the 61st MPSE Golden Reel Awards were split between Gravity and Captain Phillips, with the former winning for best sound editing in feature film – sound effects and foley, and the latter taking best sound editing in feature film – dialogue and ADR. Frozen garnered the award for best sound editing in feature film – music, musical feature, while best sound editing in feature film – music went to The Great Gatsby.

LOS ANGELES — The Motion Picture Sound Editors presented the 61st MPSE Golden Reel Awards on Sunday, February 16, at a black-tie ceremony held at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Golden Reel Awards recognizing outstanding achievement in sound editing. They were presented in 24 categories encompassing feature films, long-form and short-form television, animation, documentaries and other media.

'Gravity' won big at the BAFTAs tonight (16.02.14) taking home six awards. The 3-D space drama directed by Alfonso Cuarón and starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock was the biggest winner of the night at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTAs) in London, gaining trophies for Best Director, Special Visual Effects, Cinematography, Original Music, Sound and Outstanding British Film.
