To celebrate the second special edition production run of its iconic Black Edition, Brompton Bicycle, the UK’s largest bike manufacturer, has launched a film-making competition. This contest will be judged by a panel of leading figures in filmmaking, including renowned British director Guy Ritchie. Inspired by night-time cycling in cities, the Black Edition bike will encourage younger ‘urban explorers’ to discover the freedom they can feel as they explore city life on a Brompton bike.

The Instagram competition will inspire entrants to create a short 15-second film of their own ‘unseen’ city, showcasing its hidden gems and what makes city living so unique and exciting to them. The competition was inspired by the parts of city life seen only by bike, when the calmness of night-time reveals the secrets of the city. Using the hashtag #MyUnseenCity, the competition is open to anyone with an Instagram account.  It kicked off on November 19, 2015 and the winner will be announced at the end of March 2016.  All of the films uploaded as competition entries will be available to view on Instagram and through Brompton’s own channels via its global web page (www.brompton.com) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BromptonBicycle).

The ten most liked films will then be viewed by the Brompton Bicycle judging panel featuring:
• Guy Ritchie  - Director of Man from Uncle, Sherlock Holmes, Snatch and the forthcoming King Arthur (and Brompton owner)
• Josh Berger, CBE - President and MD of Warner Bros. UK and Harry Potter Global - hugely successful movie executive (and Brompton owner)
• Lionel Wigram - Producer partner of Guy Ritchie - produced Harry Potter series, Sherlock Holmes and Man from Uncle with Guy Ritchie  (and Brompton owner)
• Will Butler-Adams, OBE - CEO of Brompton Bicycle (and Brompton owner)

Two runners up will win a special Brompton Black Edition Bike while the overall winner will get to take the same bike to London to participate in the Brompton World Championships in UK’s capital in 2016.

The winning film will also be shown worldwide in Brompton’s ten flagship Junction stores and via Brompton.com/blackedition.

“We are delighted that Brompton owner and fan, Guy Ritchie has kindly agreed to head-up our judging panel to help spread the word about just how much fun you can have exploring cities around the world on our bikes,” said Brompton CEO Will Butler-Adams, OBE. “We look forward to seeing the creativity of our Bromptoneers worldwide as they shine a light on unseen sides of our cities from across the world.”

About Brompton Bicycle
Brompton is the largest bicycle manufacturer in the United Kingdom. Sold in over 50 countries around the world, it is estimated that about 400,000 have hit the roads since the first Brompton bike was made in the 1970s. In the U.S., Bromptons are sold through a network of independent bike stores to customers who value design, quality and functionality.

Hand-crafted in the UK since 1975, every Brompton bike gives its users the freedom to move around their city however and wherever they please. Weighing between 20 and 28 pounds with the ability to fold up to a third of their size, the Brompton is perfect for those that live, work or play in cities and can easily be transported by bus, train, car or plane. One Brompton takes 6.2 tons less carbon than a car to make and 42 folded Bromptons can fit in the space it takes to park one car.
