The quote above shows in my opinion in the simplest sense the tremendous complexity of the issue of film sound. Basically: what you see with your eyes is not (necessarily) whatyou get with your ears. It would be utterly foolish to even attempt to cover the entiresubject in one paper. That is therefore not what I set out to do here, although it may seemso at times.
