Studio 108 Opens The Doors Of Its New Space In Richmond’s Manchester’s Art + Design District, Tripling Its Size + Heralding Its 10th Anniversary With A Re-Launch As The City’s First Hybrid One-Stop Creative, Production, FX, Animation, Editorial, Audio House Studio 108 founder, director/editor Jack Hartmann, has announced that his integrated creative/FX/animation/production/post/audio company has opened the doors of its new facility in Manchester Flats, a unique building designed specifically for artists and creative companies. The multi award-winning firm has tripled its size with the move to the largest commercial space in this stunningly renovated 19th century warehouse, which is located in the heart of Richmond’s burgeoning Manchester Art + Design District. The expansion marks Studio 108’s 10th anniversary, and positions it as the city’s most comprehensive creative resource for ad agencies, corporations and filmmakers seeking a cost-effective approach to a producing innovate, high-end media content. "Our expansive new bi-level space in Manchester Flats provides our team of multi-disciplined directors, writer, producers, editors, FX artists, animators and mixers with an inspiring open-architecture creative environment that allows them to take our work to the next level. It also offers our clients the kind of over-the-top amenities that leave them looking forwarding to coming back and working with us again." The company, which provides a diverse mix of regional and national work with complete roster of creative consultation, writing, scripting, casting, production, visual effects, editing, finishing and audio services, recently signed Tyler Snidow as director of business development. A former VP at The Martin Agency, Snidow brings an invaluable perspective to Studio 108 as she helps broaden its client-base, while ensuring that it keeps pace with the industry’s ever-changing needs. "Our goal was to create a truly full-service creative environment that would provide seamless workflow, whether clients call upon us to work with them on a specific phase of their project, or take advantage of the inherent cost-effectiveness of our one-stop concept through completion capabilities," notes Snidow. Hartmann hired Parks Architecture, the award-winning firm entrusted by the developers to design the entire six-acre urban complex, and tasked them with creating a contemporary space that reflects the artistic aesthetic, style and personality that has become Studio 108’s signature. The architects paid homage to the history of the warehouse, creating a unique commercial space that punctuates the building’s industrial vibe with a clean modern design. The sun-drenched bi-level production and post studio complex is functional as well as dynamic. Its entrance is a large anteroom with a 40-foot long slab of thick granite running the length of its wall, which both sets the tone for the space as an architectural detail - and serves as a seating area where clients can have lunch, a cup of freshly brewed cappuccino, or a snack from the kitchen. The entre room leads to an expansive common area with a massive conference table and an abundance of comfortable seating, which, along with a large flat panel TV and computer access, makes it the ideal retreat for clients. Its 20-foot ceilings provided the height needed to incorporate a mezzanine level that houses Studio 108’s three master suites. Each suite features Final Cut Pro, After Effects and Cinema 4D, integrating editorial, motion graphics and color correction capabilities into its workstations. On the main level a dedicated audio suite, with a sound booth, features Pro Tools in addition to Final Cut Pro and After Effects, giving its staff added flexibility. The second level’s dramatic balcony overlooks the multi-functional lounge area, which adjoins a 20’ x 40’ live-action studio that provides a complete arsenal of equipment, including HD and standard definition cameras, lighting set ups, a large roll-able green screen, assorted cameras, trolleys and grip equipment, as well-as a full-blown set fabrication workshop. The company’s two state-of-the-art remote vehicles are fully equipped to accommodate location shoots.
