To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Apple's share price drops to be followed by surge

November 12, 2012, 09:41 AM

http://9to5mac.com/2012/11/12/report-drops-in-appl...

In October, Apple stock dropped below 600 for the first time since July. Since then, following a number of new product launches, AAPL has continued to fall and now only sits slightly higher than last week at roughly 550 per share and a market cap of USD518 billion. While many have pointed to uncertainty regarding new product launches and executive level changes as the cause of Apple’s falling share price, no one quite has a definitive answer for why AAPL has hit a nearly six-month low...

Is The Mac Coming Back?

November 8, 2012, 12:29 PM

How long will you wait for your new MAC PRO workstation? Apple are obviously in no hurry to update their pro product and have already missed the latest round of Intel chips, the E5 Xeon Series. All this non activity poses the question – Are Apple moving away from the pro?

Apple not likely to ditch Intel chips for Macs

November 7, 2012, 12:53 PM

http://www.macworld.com/article/2013606/apple-not-...

There's a certain sense to recent rumors that Apple may trade the Intel chips in its Macs for the company's own processors. Apple is, after all, the poster child of a company that wants to control its own destiny: It makes its own hardware and software, and is a proponent of the "walled garden" ecosystem exemplified by its iTunes Store and App Store.

FireWire Finally Extinguished?

November 6, 2012, 08:05 PM

http://nofilmschool.com/2012/11/firewire-extinguis...

It's always a bit sad when tried-and-true tech or transfer protocols go the way of the Dodo Bird — to utterly date myself, I can remember thinking Zip Drives were the future — or maybe frustrating is more the word I'm looking for. According to Mac World, Apple’s announcement of 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pros and new iMacs all exhibit what very well could be the setting of a trend in Apple’s products — the absence of FireWire ports. Keep reading for how on earth we're going to deal with th...
