To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

Review: Plantronics accidentally enters broadcast

September 2, 2014, 09:55 AM

http://provideocoalition.com/atepper/story/review-...

Plantronics is a renowned headset manufacturer for office communication, general listening, mobile telephony, and gaming, but not for broadcast or multimedia production. However, due to an unusual set of circumstances, I discovered that their completely analog Plantronics .Audio 326 headset (when combined with a portable preamp/A>D converter) transforms itself into an ultra-affordable broadcast headset for production and live streaming. Here’s my review with test recordings.

Logic Pro Expert Show Groups in Logic Pro X

September 2, 2014, 09:53 AM

http://logic-pro-expert.com/logic-pro-blog/2014/09...

In a recent post I discussed some strategies for using groups in Logic Pro X as a means to hide multiple tracks simultaneously. After experimenting with it as a means of managing large projects, I found that what would be equally, if not more, valuable is a “show tracks” function rather than just the ability to hide tracks. In other words, the ability to view only select tracks while hiding all others rather than viewing all tracks while hiding a few. Here I’ll share a way of using the gro...

Where We Stand…

At first glance, you may not think of this site as one where we would care about reactions to critical analysis of media. We care very much, in fact, and feel it is necessary to take a moment to discuss the recent reactions to the latest in Anita Sarkeesian’s “Tropes Vs. Women in Video Games” series.

Audioquest DragonFly 1.2 DAC test

The Audioquest Dragonfly 1.2 is an improved version of the original Dragonfly. According to Audioquest it among the improvements, the circuitry between the DAC chip and the analog output stage has been refined to create a more direct signal path, leading to even greater transparency and immediacy. Also, the DAC’s power supply has been fortified, which gives the sound more ‘grip’ and even greater dynamic contrast. I compared the new Dragonfly with the original and this is what I found.

There is a useful feature hiding in the Audio Track Editor's Flex Pitch mode. It is possible to assign notes to pitches entered by your MIDI controller.
