It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.
Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.
We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.
Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.
Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!
Yours truly,
Gordon Burkell

The color correction tools in Final Cut Pro X are nice. Adobe’s Lumetri controls make grading intuitive. But sometimes you just want to click a few buttons and be happy with the results. That’s where AutoGrade from Hawaiki comes in. AutoGrade is a full-featured color correction plug-in that runs within Final Cut Pro X, Motion, […]

In this lesson, Kevin P McAuliffe discusses the newest release of Media Composer, 2018.7, and with it comes one of the first big promised features of Media Composer, and that is the Live Timeline. This, plus some other great new additions, makes 2018.7 an update that you’ll seriously want to consider.

5 minutes wasn’t nearly enough time to truly test out LIVE TIMELINE in the new Avid Media Composer 2018.7 updated but I couldn’t let this monuments occasion pass without taking it for a spin. If you’ll remember, Avid announced the upcoming Live Timeline at NAB 2018 and was showing it on the NAB show floor.

Jeff Payne, founder/mixer at Santa Monica’s audio post studio Eleven, helped bring dinosaurs to life — well, kind of — for two new Target spots, Dino Clash and Giant Steps. The spots coincided with the recent release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Dino Clash begins with the shadow of a dinosaur roaming a toy city where its shadow meets another dino shadow. A great mentor is only half of what makes a successful mentorship. A mentee needs to put just as much, if not more effort to make sure that the relationship is productive and time is used efficiently and respectfully. I’ve been fortunate to be on both sides, as both a mentor and a mentee. […]

I have been a big fan of TASCAM digital recorders for some time. I’ve reviewed a few over the years: the DR-100, the DR-40 and now the DR-44WL. I’ve used the DR-40 for a number of jobs over the years — everything from lectures to radio commercials. I found it super-useful, but sometimes when I’m […] The post Review: TASCAM DR-44WL Digital Recorder appeared first on Studio Daily.
