To The Aotg.com Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will no longer be updating Aotg.com. Back in 2007, when we started, there was a lack of access to information about film, television, and commercial editing. We wanted to fix that by creating a central location for content about editing to be stored.

Since then, we've watched the amount of content about editing on the internet grow exponentially. We've also watched social media tools come and go with that growth. Does anyone remember Google Wave!? These social media tools changed how people access and search for media and information. People tend to turn to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Instagram for their news and information, and those are all great tools to promote your sites, but as a site that aggregates links to other sites for users, it just doesn't work for us.

We will keep the site live but archive the ability to add links and comments. We will keep our database live with the links for those who desire to use it to search for editing information and research.

Our podcast, The Cutting Room, will move over to the Filmmakeru.com website and will continue to be a place for interviews with editors and other film professionals.

Everyone who worked for Aotg.com loved what we created and are proud that we could help so many editors find content that spoke to them.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the various post events worldwide in the coming years!

Christian Hart posts a tool that will allow you to generate curves from animated objects and vertices. Maya Plot Curves Script can work with multiple objects or selected vertices, and can be used to create abstract shapes or even progressively would coil springs.

PixelLab offers Free Handheld Pack for AE/C4D

The Pixel Lab is celebrating their third anniversary by offering a new Handheld Camera Pack for Ae and C4D. The pack consists of 10 drag and drop camera moves that you can use directly in your scene.

Maya LT 2015 Makes its Way to Steam

Autodesk recently announced that Maya LT 2015, a more affordable version of Maya aimed squarely at indie game makers. With Maya LT on Steam, developers will be able to create 3D game assets and integrate them into popular steam titles.

Movie Titles Series: Pacific Rim

After more than a hundred blockbuster titles, the Tuts+ Hollywood Movie Title Series comes to a close with the creation of the Pacific Rim V2 title animation. You'll begin in After Effects and examine the particular coloring technique used to render the video's 3D logo, and then jump into Cinema 4D to model and animate the falcon emblem. From there it's back to After Effects where you'll look at splitting the lens-flares and adding additional smoke particles to the footage.

If you made it down to NAB or had a look at what was new and announced, you may have still missed this gem. aescripts + aeplugins posts a sneak look at Sticky Paint. It is not really available yet, although they were showing it off on the NAB show floor.

Alex White posts an After Effects Script for creating highly stylized triangulated images and clips. aw_Triangulator can animate masks in After Effects using the Ae Built in tracker, creates Nulls from those mask vertices, then builds a triangulation effect using After Effects Shape Layers.
